At some point in your life, you may decide that your smile is looking a little dim. Any number of things can discolor your teeth. Certain foods and drinks, tobacco, age, and some medications can darken your teeth. Your teeth can become darker if you sustain an injury to your mouth. When there is an impact to your mouth, your body will manufacture more dentin in your teeth. The yellow color of the dentin will add a tint to your smile.

If you would like a brighter smile, you should come in and talk to our dentist, Dr. Joshua Merrill at New London Complete Health Dentistry in New London, Ohio about whitening your teeth. Some toothpastes contain ingredients to whiten your teeth, and many stores offer kits or strips that you can use at home to do the job. Before purchasing a product on your own, you should talk with the dentist to make certain that it will work for you. You should also look for the Seal of Acceptance from the American Dental Association.

For the most effective, and safest whitening treatment, you should have the procedure done in our office. This is known as chairside bleaching and is done by Dr. Merrill.

Whitening does not work on all teeth. Brown and grey teeth may not respond to whitening procedures, and whitening will not work for crowns or  veneers, and will not solve discoloration problems caused by medications or injuries.

If you are interested in having your teeth whitened, you should contact our office at 419-929-1544. We’ll make an appointment for you to see the dentist to find out if teeth-whitening is right for you.
